I was going to do the cartoon Brainiac5 but since there are two version of him that way, i think I'm going to do that one last. So just to keep things moving I'm going to go in order for comic appearance

Note through out this it will only be one version on Brainiac5 through out the profile

so i present,

Post- Zero crisis Brainiac5

The second Brainiac5 that we are going to get into has been Dubbed reboot-Brainiac5 by the fans,

Brainiac5 story starts out different from the previous Querl Dox, This version of the legion of superheroes Legionnaires are drafted rather then join of there own free will, every planet picks one member to be there Representative and Clou picks Querl Dox for several reasons. However when we first see Querl, he is not with the team. he's in a lab light years away with notes summoning him to the Legion HQ a good foot tall pile of them. When Querl ignores the summons, he is forcibly taken by soldiers and dragged off to Legion HQ. There he spends a week working in the lab before any one really Notices him there, in fact Lyle norg (invisible kid) while getting the tour of the lab thinks that The Clouan is there to be his Lab assistant. And is Surprised along with Cosmic boy to Find that the Clouan is the newest legionnaire code name Brainiac5.

As it turns out Querl, had been working to the founder Mr. Brande, and has a habit of Blowing labs up, and bankrupting every one whom he has ever worked for, When Brainiac5 tries to back out of getting into the legion Brande promises the coulan the lab would be bigger and better than he is used to, so the teen reluctantly stays with out any more of a fight. This makes the founder happy as the coulan is no longer his problem financial problem.

While the rest of the team is out fighting a villain (star finger I think.), they come across a real problem they don't know how to stop the bad guy let along how his powers work so they call the coulan for help. This is his real first interaction with the group and he yells at them for a while, insulted them calling them names such as 'super-powered monkeys” or “hormonal primitives.” Brainiac5 is more arrogant, sarcastic, and mean than ever before.

Lyle norg (who used to be a spy this version, ) takes to hanging out in the lab invisible, over hears Brainy making some rude comment about him, only to find out the Clouan knew he was there all along. Once again it is shown that Brainiac is more adaptive than inventive Lyle comes up with the idea for fight rings using metal Brainy had dubbed a waste, despite being half the brain for the flight rings Brainy will always tell people that it was more of Lyle's idea then his. Showing still that he is an honest person.

On his first field mission we learn that Brainiac5 is his title on Clou and he would like to be called only that, and while the others make fun of it he gets greatly offended and when others shorten it to 'Brainy'. This sort of becomes a running joke for years Some on will call him Brainy and he will always say “it's Brainiac5” implying that the title is important to him. he continues to to constantly drop into conversation 'I'm a 12 level mind' but mostly in a mean demeaning manner.

Brainaic 5 still has his tools of the trade his brain, and his belt, but this Brainiac5 barely interacts with the other Legionnaires, although he was still somewhat attracted to Laurel Gand, now called Andromeda, nothing ever happens between the two as she is a racist and he's a jerk. They hint that they both like one anther but due to his attitude when she's tries to be nice they walk away from one another and they never be anything more. When Andromeda was believed killed, he was the only person who really missed her, a wrenching experience for someone used to suppressing emotion.

Reboot legion lacked the ability to go back in time with time bubbles, so once While the team is thrown back in time( its half Brainy's fault.) , he picks up the pet monkey Koko, whom has an very irrational liking to the Clouan and he cant get it off him, trying to find a way back to their time Brainiac5 Makes C.O.M.P.U.T.O. As a way to get back. C.O.M.P.U.T.O. clear to every one around the coulan is not a good thing, while Brainiac beams with pride over it. However C.O.M.P.U.T.O goes rouge and tries to wipe out all super heroes, (to be fair the the computer they started it) he is stopped but it is clear that brainy is hurt by the computers last words to him. And it's clear the computer thinks of Brainiac5 to be it father.

Around this time Brainiac5 history is reveled, that at the very moment of his birth, his mother looked at him than handed him to the doctors and walked out of his life, on Clou he was isolated because of his higher intelligence, and made into a loner do to his people's fear of doing applied science, he was mostly raised by robots, so his lack of social grace becomes a bit clearer, they only way he could get any attention on Clou was to blow something up. So his habit of blowing labs up, is just him crying out for attention. The biggest reveal is that he can't remember his mothers face and is all his working on time travel so he can she what she looks like.

he becomes part of a team that investigated a mysterious space anomaly. The anomaly "upgraded" him: he was now more considerate of others, and had vastly improved people skills gets a bit of hardware installed making his force shield apparatus internal so he no longer need the belt. Along with circuitry that dumbs him down enough he is able to functionon better with people. He became friendly and nice, and is able to smile and laugh with other legionaries and Quickly becomes friend with Gates (who had an problem with his mouth until this mission as well), His friend Gates than dubbed the improved Querl Dox "Brainiac5.1" and he adopts the new code name for a while

However while dealing with the dark circle, he does something nice for colu and they let him know what his mother looks like, he then has an idea out where she is going to be and he runs off leaving his new friend Gates behind along with some other legionaries. He goes to her and its a very touching as he says all he ever wanted was her and they hug, then she tries to kill him, by turning on his force shield and burning him alive both inside and out, luckily his new friend Gates worried about why Querl ran of so suddenly comes and saves him before she has a chance to do more permanent harm and Brainy goes right back to being a prick.

Brainiac4 is taken into custody, and Brainiac5.1 finds his isolation intolerable, as the mother he spent his whole life wondering about turned out to be a murdering psychopath, as his emotions turn against him, and he tries to retreat into himself, but he has one ace that his mother didn’t. Gates (never afraid to loudly voice any and all emotions that occur to him) tries to help his friend through this rough time(even when Brainy kept right on being prick). For a while nothing really works but when Gates Implies that brainy is right for calling him stupid, Brainy finally lets Gates know that he thinks of gates and that all the problems they have in there friendship is because brainy doesn't know if he wants to be attached to others emotionally, it new for him and he's not sure if he likes it. Still they stay close and the two are often seen with one another from this point on.

after this Brainiac5.1 finally comes to a balance between being nice and his sarcastic nature, and starts to form bonds with others in the legion, during the events of legion lost, several things show happen that showcase his change, for one he takes it very hard that he can't think of a way home, to keep every one spirits up he spends day after day pretending he's working on a way home even when it becomes clear (at least to him) with no real supplies or tech he was not capable of getting him home any where near home, he also tries to comfort both lighting lad and Saturn girl in moments of need something he was not capable doing when he first joined the legion, he also has a heart felt talk with Saturn girl about calling him 5.1, on how much he hates it and where they go back to calling him just Brainiac5.

they get home and he gains a few more friends, still it shown that legion members are still scared of him and his wrath, when two members sneak into the lab and steal a project that Brainaic 5 is working on and stumble on some hidden pictures he shouldn't have of some of the blondes on the team such as dreamer, Andromeda, and one brunette Lyle norg, they leave him a note saying we wont tell if you wont and Brainy doesn't

it widely believed that this version of Brainiac5 played for both teams as the only person he is ever shown kissing was Lyle norg (it was on the check take it as you want i know i do) however it was never made clear if there was anything behind it. it was sort of oh thank god your not dead kiss ( but then again he never puckered up for gates.)


this Brainiac5 is an and essential part the the reboot, team and remains a key member of the team until, the rebooted Legion is torn free of the time stream and no longer exists.

Fun fact:

his pet monkey, could have very well belonged to his Brainiac1, it was kept at star labs as where Brainiac1 was.

When working he likes to hang upside down. He find it more challenging to work like this.

the metal circuitry on his face keeps him dumbed down, when there not working his mind is like an exploding star of knowledge.

There was an issue when the time tapper came and sort of did a version of its a wonderful life showing brainy how much happier every one would be if he didn't join the legion, and he was happy to find out that he made every one just as miserable as the make him.
